Bayern Munich beat FC St. Pauli 5-0 in a match that was comfortably skewed in their favour. The game featured Jamal Musiala in the starting lineup — a rare sight given Musiala’s long and arduous recovery period following both his fracture and the muscle tear that followed.
Musiala, in a partnership with Nicolas Jackson, was fantastic, for the duo complemented each other extremely well. This led to a goal Jackson scored, assisted by the German international. Additionally, Musiala also opened the scoring
for Bayern with a goal in the 9th minute. Perhaps the concerns of him getting injured again are gone… or so you would think.
Earlier, a statement from Oliver Kahn surfaced — the former front office member and Bayern-Germany legend advised Musiala to skip the World Cup given his injury record. Musiala responded to this, saying he definitely wants to be there for his country in June.
Further, when asked on the same, manager Vincent Kompany responded to this, with a cheek-in-tongue comment on Kahn’s attitude towards football.
“I saw Oli Kahn in training, and I can say that he would go to the World Cup even with a broken hand and broken foot,” he said, laughing, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. This is perhaps with reference to Kompany’s time at Hamburger SV, back in 2006.
Of course, given Musiala wants to go to the World Cup anyway, this whole saga was perhaps a mere nothingburger.
