The Syracuse men are on their way to Charlottesville as their season continues in the Final Four, but transfer portal season waits for no one, whether your season is still going or not.
Over the course of the last couple days, the ‘Cuse men and women have had player movement occur both in and out of the portal. Let’s take a quick overview of what we know so far, and please note that news is coming in fast and furious at the moment so it’s possible, even likely, that by the time you read this the lists
below will be in need of update.
Men — Incoming Players
- Cooper Pasko — sophomore midfielder, Lafayette
- Zac Amend — junior midfielder, Bryant
Women — Outgoing Players
- Lexi Reber, defender
- Allie Hanlon, goalie
- Caroline Trinkaus, attacker
Women — Incoming Players
- Olivia Bruno — redshirt senior defender, Virginia
- Hanna Davis — redshirt sophomore attacker, Boston College
- Maya Soskin — sophomore goalie, Florida
The men have yet to have any players enter the portal, since they’ve got slightly bigger things on their minds at the moment. But that hasn’t stopped them from already making a couple of additions for next year in the form of, unsurprisingly, a pair of offensive midfielders.
On Tuesday, Cooper Pasko became the first portal addition when he committed. Coming off his freshman season at Lafayette, Pasko appeared in nine games and scored six goals and an assist. In his only start of the year in late April against Lehigh, he scored two goals. Listed at 5’11”, 163, he’s a former three-star prospect out of Loyola Blakefield in MD, the same school that produced Billy Dwan.
Then, yesterday, it was announced that another midfielder would join him in Zac Amend from Bryant. Amend had a very successful first two years playing for the Bulldogs, as he was named the America East Rookie of the Year in 2025 and earned second team all-conference twice. As a freshman, he finished second on the team with 24 goals and third with 33 points. This past season, he was the team’s leading goal and point scorer with 32 and 44, respectively. In his two seasons for Bryant, he played in 28 games, starting 22 of them, and scored 56 goals, 21 assists and 77 points while shooting 38.6 percent.
Amend is listed at 6’0”, 170 and is a New Hampshire native. In his tweet announcing the news, Ty Xanders of Prep Lacrosse referred to Amend as “crafty, quick and two-handed”.
For the women, let’s quickly begin with the announced departures so far, in order of announcement.
On Tuesday of last week, it was revealed that sophomore defender Lexi Reber was the first SU woman to put her name in the transfer portal. A five-star, Top 15 recruit in the Class of 2024, Reber started the first eight games of her freshman season last year before suffering a season-ending injury. Coming off injury this year, she was passed on the depth chart and only played in three games.
Last Wednesday, backup goalie Allie Hanlon added her name to the portal after appearing in only three games in each of her first two years of college. Hanlon, a West Genesee grad, finished her high school career as the NYS career saves record holder with 665, but was stuck behind Dan Guyette the past two seasons.
Lastly and most crucially, sophomore attacker Caroline Trinkaus entered her name into the portal two days ago. It’s certainly a significant loss as she was the team’s second-leading goal (31) and point (44) scorer this past season. She had 87 points in her first two years.
And now, let’s take a look at the incoming transfers who’ve already committed to Regy Thorpe in his second season as head coach.
First, on Tuesday, it was announced that ‘Cuse picked up an addition in Virginia defender Olivia Bruno. She was a senior this past year at UVA, but sat out the whole season. In the two years before that, she was a mainstay on the Cavalier defense, starting in all 39 games across the 2024 and 2025 seasons. She had 38 caused turnovers and 17 ground balls in that time. A 5’9” native of Victor, NY, she attended Victor HS, the same school that produced Emily Hawryschuk.
Then, yesterday, the Orange got more good news when Boston College attacker Hanna Davis announced her commitment to SU. Davis was a redshirt freshman seeing her first collegiate action last year when she scored 32 points on 16 goals and assists for BC. A native of Canandaigua in the Rochester area, she’s already got good ‘Cuse connections as she played for Monsters Elite club lacrosse, the same program where Molly Guzik and Ashlee Volpe played. Davis is diminutive at 5’2”, but she’s a former five-star, Top 25 recruit. She’s also the younger sister of Mckenna Davis, BC’s all-time leading assister, so she’s got quite the familial pedigree, as well.
Finally, late last night it was announced that Florida goalie Maya Soskin would be following the path of Regy Thorpe and Nicole Levy from Gainesville to CNY. Soskin was the No. 8 overall recruit in the Class of 2025, and the Cold Spring Harbor native actually broke Allie Hanlon’s NYS career saves record, finishing her career with 723. As a freshman for the Gators, she appeared in 16 games, starting four of them in a cluster of three goalies for UF. She finished her rookie campaign with 65 saves, a 10.43 GAA and a .458 save percentage.
With Soskin, the question becomes does her commitment signal that Guyette will not be returning for her redshirt year of eligibility, or is she arriving with the promise of succeeding Dan once her time is done?
Stay tuned because there’s sure to be more transfer portal news and notes as we move forward in the next couple weeks, but it’s already been a busy beginning for both the men’s and women’s programs.
