The news many Colorado fans have greatly feared has unfortunately arrived. Star wide receiver Omarion Miller officially announced on Wednesday via social media that he will be entering the transfer portal
when it opens on January 2.
Miller leaves Colorado with 66 receptions, 1,258 yards and 10 touchdowns across three seasons, but the raw numbers don’t tell his story. Despite breaking out against USC, he barely saw the field as a true freshman in 2023, missed significant time with injuries in 2024 and spent 2025 fighting through an offense that never truly found any meaningful momentum. When healthy and featured, he was the vertical valve of this passing game and the one receiver CU had that defenses had to tilt coverage toward.
Expect Miller to be heavily recruited in the portal. His size, ball tracking and ability to win along the boundary make him a plug-and-play starter for a lot of top programs next fall. It’s an extremely tough loss for Colorado, especially for a room that needed additional reinforcements and proven production even before this news hit.
For the Buffs, the task is straightforward and urgent. Under new offensive coordinator Brennan Marion, they need to identify a new X who can threaten outside the numbers, win against press, and finish in the red zone. Whether that answer comes from the portal, a late high school signee, or an in house leap, the role cannot be a question mark heading into spring.
