The moment that all of Bills Mafia dreads: Josh Allen took himself out of the game during the first quarter against the New York Jets for what appeared to be an injury to his nose.
As his nose was being packed to control the bleeding and trainers were attending to him, the Bills’ on-again, off-again backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky put on his helmet and ran out to the field
to greet his teammates. He knew it was go-time, with or without Allen, and he stayed focused on the task at hand. A former starter in the league, he looked neither hesitant nor rattled, and, as announcers would say, the guy was poised.
But he wasn’t simply poised. He was bold.
On 3rd & 7, Trubisky rifled a perfect ball to Joshua Palmer…with the fierce Sauce Gardener in coverage. Not only did Palmer catch it, but Sauce also got caught holding on the play. Josh Allen was able to re-enter the game soon after and lead the team to a 52-yard FG by K Matt Prater.
Trubisky might not have played long, but he didn’t waste the opportunity either. In fact, on just two plays, Trubisky ended up with more passing yards than Jets QB Justin Fields could muster all day.
While Bills fans celebrate this huge win over an AFC East rival, they should also be keeping their heads on a swivel as seemingly everyone now wants a piece of Mitchy Biscuits. That poses an interesting question: If a team came to the Bills seeking out a trade for Trubisky, would you give him up? If so, what should the Bills reasonably want in return?
