The Yankees saw their season end on Wednesday night, a 5-2 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays bringing to a close the American League Division Series.
We here at Pinstripe Alley ran a Reacts survey after the Yankees fell behind in the series 0-2, and before the start of Game 3, taking the pulse on whether or not Yankees fans thought that this series would go back to Toronto for a Game 5 (and if they would win that or not).
The majority of Yankees fans who responded in the survey were perhaps understandably on the pessimistic side, which ended up being based in a reasonable line of thought.

Considering the result of last night’s game (not to mention the first couple blowouts at Rogers Centre), it’s obvious that the majority of the Yankees fans voting in the poll had a reason to be pessimistic. The Yankees tied Game 4 in the third inning thanks to a home run from Trade Deadline acquisition Ryan McMahon, but were quiet for almost the rest of the game. It was always going to be hard to win scoring just two runs in a game, especially when you make mistakes in the field and your opponent has a dozen hits.
One of the responses on our site about Yankees manager Aaron Boone stood out above the rest, and with yesterday’s result, similar sentiments will likely remain:

Despite Aaron Judge’s heroic home run and the offensive outburst in Game 3—and his RBI single in the bottom of the ninth in Game 4 to keep the season in its dying moments—the Yankees once again failed to capitalize on the momentum and take the series to five games. Now, it’s on to the offseason, and looking toward the 2026 season.
