Joe Willock enters the summer with one year remaining on his contract, placing Newcastle in a decision window.
Linked with Crystal Palace and Leeds United, the midfielder carries a valuation of around £15m, which is more than affordable for those or any other club interested in landing a proven Premier League midfielder with vast experience.
“Willock will have one year left on his contract in the summer and is not one of their first-choice midfielders,” The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards said.
Recent appearances
by Willock have been injury-driven, with the midfielder losing playing time on a steady basis in a crowded Magpies midfield.
“He has come back into the side in recent weeks because of injuries to Bruno, Lewis Miley and Joelinton, but is a similar type of player to Jacob Ramsey, who appears to have the higher ceiling,” Edwards said.
Newcastle are expected to act pragmatically, with Edwards projecting the Magpies to sell Willock as soon as this summer.
“It is expected that Willock, 26, will leave in the summer while Newcastle can still command a fee,” Edwards said. “Verdict: Sell.”
