The status of Fermín López at Barcelona appears to be in serious question as the young midfielder will make a final decision on his future very soon amid strong interest from Chelsea in the last few hours.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reported early on Tuesday that Chelsea have contacted Fermín’s camp to express their interest, but are waiting for the player’s response in order to initiate talks with Barça.
And now we have new information thanks to the reliable Ferran Martínez of Mundo Deportivo,
who reports Fermín is “beginning to rethink” his situation after not playing against Levante at the weekend and watching Raphinha start in his place to further increase the competition for places in his position.
The report says Chelsea have guaranteed a “protagonist role” for Fermín at Stamford Bridge as a major piece in Enzo Maresca’s system, and have given Fermín 48 hours to decide whether or not he wants to accept their offer.
There is no concrete, reliable reports of a transfer fee as talks between the clubs haven’t even started yet, but things appear to be heating up quickly as Chelsea are waiting on Fermín’s answer, which may very well turn out to be a yes.
