This explains a bit.
Jose Berrios has been placed on the IL with elbow inflammation. He hasn’t looked right for the last while, and it explains why the team didn’t plan to use him to start tonight. He’s
getting an MRI, but it sounds like inflammation is a symptom of something more serious.
Paxton Schultz is up with the Jays, and I’m guessing will see action tonight.
Berrios last started on September 16th, going just four innings allowing three earned, with no strikeouts. He pitched two innings yesterday, and did get three strikeouts, but gave up three earned on two hits, two walks and a home run. He hasn’t look right in a while.
He’s been the guy to push through this stuff in the past, making 32 starts each of the last four seasons (and 30 this year), but seems to have caught up with him this year.
Paxton Schultz has pitched in 13 games this year, with the Jays, 24.2 innings. He’s got a 4.38 ERA, 8 walks and 28 strikeouts. You’ll remember he pitched 4.1 innings of relief in his first outing, getting 8 strikeouts.
Tonight’s lineups. Santander plays left field.
This is true about a lot of things in life:
This is interesting, no change but some progress.
Chris Bassitt got a cortisone shot yesterday. He’s to play catch tonight.
If he is healthy again, he could be activated for the ALDS.
