Disappointing. Discouraging. Disheartening.
Many adjectives could describe the feelings after the (5-2) Kansas City Chiefs’ fourth-quarter collapse against the (6-2) Denver Broncos in Week 8, but Chiefs Kingdom isn’t alone in suffering a crushing defeat this weekend.
Before the Chiefs kicked off later in the afternoon, the Dallas Cowboys blew a 24-10 lead in the fourth quarter against the Arizona Cardinals in front of the home fans at AT&T Stadium. Former Chiefs backup quarterback Gardner Minshew turned
back the clock and delivered a vintage gunslinger performance to lead Arizona back and win 33-30 in overtime.
It kept Dallas from improving to 4-4 and closing in on the (4-2-1) New York Giants in a division that feels completely up for grabs, with the shortcomings of the (2-4-1) Washington Commanders and (2-6) Philadelphia Eagles this season.
According to the national fans in SB Nation’s ‘Reacts’ poll from Sunday, the Cowboys’ collapse was the only loss that was more “crushing” than the Chiefs losing their grip on the game and the division race in Denver.
The (4-4) Baltimore Ravens were in a close third place after a blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills on the road; the crushing part of the defeat was the news that quarterback Lamar Jackson (thumb) may be out for the rest of the season.
Do you think the Chiefs were the most crushing defeat of Week 8? Or does Dallas take the cake? Let us know in the comments.
