After two years of disappointing early postseason exits without even one win to show for it, the 2025 season was supposed to be one in which the Orioles made their way back to the playoffs and finally
advanced. It never worked out that way. All manner of things went wrong with the team over the course of the season and they fell to last place in the division, 12 games short of a postseason. There were more things that went wrong than there are spots on an MLB roster.
Starting tomorrow and going through the rest of the year, Camden Chat’s writers will be looking back on some of our most notable storylines from the 2025 season. Among these are a mix of news happenings (the midseason firing of Brandon Hyde), big-picture ongoing storylines (the home run outage), and notable single games (turning a no-hitter into a walkoff win).
Before we get into our picks, what are the things you’ll take away from this wasted season? Now that we’re sitting here, more than two months after it finally fizzled to a stop, what frustrating things are at the front of your memory? Were there any twinkles in the darkness that you’ll be able to carry over into next season?
CC writers have a dozen topics lined up between all of us, but there were so many more things going on in this time than we could summarize even if we did twice as many. Let us know your big ones – or small ones – in the comments below.
Do keep in mind that this is about the 2025 season, so anything that’s happened after it ended is not within the purview of this series. Signing Pete Alonso and trading Grayson Rodriguez are moves that were not part of the 2025 failure. Hopefully there will be good things to say about each at this time a year from now.
