The TCU Horned Frogs are set to lose their No. 1 recruit of the 2024 class, redshirt freshman wide receiver and former four-star prospect Gekyle Baker. Baker, who didn’t appear in a game in either of his two seasons with the Horned Frogs, announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on Saturday evening. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound receiver from Brownsboro, Texas was one of three four-star recruits in the 2024 class and is the second to leave the program in the last two years. Hauss Hejny departed
the program for Oklahoma State late last year.
Baker’s departure means that TCU has now lost three of its top five recruits from the 2024 class. Running back Nate Palmer, the program’s fifth-best recruit of the 2024 class, opted for the transfer portal less than a week ago. Sophomore running back Jeremy Payne remains as the only four-star recruit on the roster from the 2024 class. Prior to signing with the Horned Frogs, Baker held offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Kansas State, Texas A&M and more. A multi-sport athlete at Brownsboro, Baker was Brownsboro’s career leader in receptions (147), receiving yards (2,616), touchdowns (30) and single-game receiving yards (253).
