For the second time in the first month of the season, Buffalo Bills receiver DJ Moore left a game early after suffering a shoulder injury, and we now have some idea of its severity thanks to an Adam Schefter report.
Against the Patriots in Week 4, Moore left in the first half after aggravating the shoulder injury from Week 2’s win over the Lions.
He initially was listed as questionable to return but later was downgraded to doubtful and did play in the second half. This was Schefter’s report on where
Moore apparently stands health-wise:
The thought that it’s not a long-term issue is clearly huge for the Bills, especially given the original circumstances. The initial reaction from many when Moore hurt his shoulder against the Lions was that he broke his collarbone which would’ve likely been a multi-month injury. It ultimately was an AC joint sprain.
Without a medical degree and using Schefter’s report as context, I’m assuming the aggravation was of the same variety. It wouldn’t appear Moore broke anything.
As you can see here from Thigh Doctor on Twitter/X, this aggravation was almost identical to how he initially sprained that left AC joint in Week 2:
Moore had one carry for six yards and one reception for 11 yards on two targets against New England. His catch went for a first down on a 3rd and 8 early in Buffalo’s opening touchdown drive that tied the game 7-7 in the first quarter.
He’s vital to Buffalo’s offense as a the true X who can separate against man-to-man coverage and find the football down the field. This will, of course, be a situation we’ll closely monitor as the Bills prepare for Monday Night Football in Los Angeles against the Rams in Week 5.
