In rebuilding the roster last offseason, Arizona brought in several players who had excelled at the FCS level in hopes they could be just as impactful in the Big 12. They hit on several of them, including
defensive standouts Malachi Bailey, Max Harris, Deshawn McKnight and Riley Wilson.
The Wildcats are hoping they hit paydirt yet again with the commitment of former Georgetown linebacker Cooper Blomstrom
.The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Blomstrom comes to Tucson with one season of eligibility remaining. In three years at Georgetown he appeared in 31 games, making 19 starts, during which he tallied 117 tackles (27 for loss) with 16 sacks, five forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception.
A two-time all-conference Patriot League selection, Blomstrom played on the defensive line for the Hoyas but will be at linebacker for Arizona, possibly in the role Wilson played in 2025 that saw him fluctuate between the edge and OLB.
Arizona returns rising seniors Taye Brown, who has 24 games at linebacker including 18 in a row, and Chase Kennedy, who started the last seven games. Also back are underclassmen Jabari Mann and Myron Robinson, the latter of which started at Cincinnati before getting injured, and the 2026 recruiting class includes Dash Fifita, younger brother of UA quarterback Noah Fifita.
Blomstrom is Arizona’s third addition from the NCAA transfer portal, first on defense.
