Five days removed from his short-notice breakout at UFC 322, Bantamweight newcomer Ethyn Ewing is already back in steel-toed boots instead of 4-oz. gloves.
Ewing stunned heavy-handed Malcolm Wellmaker on
incredibly short notice last weekend inside Madison Square Garden, grinding out a unanimous decision, gaining a ton of new fans in the process.
Today (Thurs., Nov. 20, 2025), a clip circulated online showing Ewing returning to his construction job, where his coworkers erupted in cheers, handshakes, and congratulations as “The Professor Finesser” walked in like a conquering king.
Check out the video below:
Ewing works as a safety professional in the construction industry and co-owns a safety consulting business, Occusafe Network, with his father in Culver City, California. He has long balanced fighting with the demands of the trade, often using jobsite hours as a reminder of why he pushes so hard in the cage.
But if his recent trajectory continues, those work boots may not stay laced for long. After dropping the first two fights of his pro career, Ewing (9-2) has rattled off nine straight wins with a 78% finish rate — seven by knockout — and appears to be hitting a new level of confidence and composure.
“The Professor Finesser” may have returned to work this week, but momentum suggests he won’t stay in the construction yard forever.
