Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being
churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- The cut Jade Cargill suffered in the main event of last Friday’s SmackDown required stitches, but Fightful Select says she’s okay. PW Insider Elite reported the same, and both agree WWE is likely to keep her off television for a week or two even though she hasn’t been removed from the schedule or storylines.
- Regarding the botched ending of Cargill’s match, Fightful Select and Wrestling Observer’s sources said Tiffany Stratton was late breaking up Cargill’s pin on Nia Jax, which led to an unplanned Jax kickout. That led to theories as to why the three wasn’t counted when Stratton covered Jax as planned, but no one seems sure what exactly went wrong there.
- Seth Rollins and John Cena are still favored in their matches at Crown Jewel by betonline’s oddsmakers. Stephanie Vaquer and Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky have opened as favorites in their’s.
- Addressing speculation Ronda Rousey could be teasing a return to UFC with recent training videos she’s posted, Ariel Helwani said he “never thought it would happen” but he does “think something’s there”.
- Otis was spotted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando this week, according to another PW Insider Elite report. That could be a sign he’s close to making a full comeback after a brief appearance for AAA in August.
- Edris Enofe’s WWE contract wasn’t up when he announced his exit, per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Instead, Meltzer says Enofe asked for and was granted his release.
- Insider’s Mike Johnson also says that filming starts “very soon” for the third season of WWE LFG.
