Jules Koundé is back in action after finishing fourth in the World Cup with France. Having finished his vacation, he was spotted back training for Barcelona, but his future could still lie elsewhere.
Arsenal are said to be big admirers of the player, though no offer has come through yet. Barça are interested in making changes in the defensive zone and may need to raise funds in order to do so. They have already sent Ronald Araujo on loan to Liverpool.
Injuries have hit the London-based club, with William
Saliba suffering from back problems and Jurriën Timber recovering from groin surgery.
The Gunners’ top choice is said to be Ezri Konsa, who was with England in the World Cup. However, Aston Villa are demanding €75 million, which is an elevated price. That price is what has made the Gunners look for alternatives, and Koundé fits the profile Arsenal are looking for as a defender that can operate as a center-back or full-back.
Barça have options in the full-back position with Eric Garcia becoming a key part of the defense, Alejandro Balde still a key piece, Xavi Espart emerging, and João Cancelo said to be on the verge of returning on a permanent transfer.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have been rumored as potential Koundé suitors as well.
