It’s been a while since we’ve even gotten a sniff of something from the trade rumor mill. We got a little bit of sniff (or maybe a crumb?) from Matt Moore today.
From Moore, tucked in at the very end:
Utah continues to stonewall all talks for Lauri Markkanen. If they move him, it will be sudden .
Probably not surprising to Utah Jazz fans who are loving the improved play from the Finnish forward. Markkanen has started the season putting up bonkers numbers. He’s averaging 30.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists while shooting 47.9% from the field and 38.9% from three. It’s a career year for Markkanen, who is playing in a way that has justified the high asking price the Jazz had in seasons past. I wonder if the Warriors are regretting listening to Draymond Green on this one?
It’s interesting that he puts the caveat that, if they move him, it will be sudden. Who’s to say what that means? To me, that means that Utah isn’t going to listen to any offer unless it’s an incredible one. If you were the Jazz, what would your asking price be for Lauri Markkanen?
