The biggest storyline of the week, leading to the 1-1 Las Vegas Raiders game at the 1-1 Washington Commanders on Sunday (kickoff is at 10 a.m. PT) is the health status of Washington’s young quarterback Jayden Daniels.
While nothing will be official before Friday, it appears to be trending that Daniels will not play in the game because of a knee sprain he suffered last Thursday night
in a loss to the Green Bay Packers.Daniels is not practicing Wednesday and Washington coach Dan Quinn said Daniels is not expected
to practice before Friday and if he doesn’t practice then, he likely won’t play against the Raiders. Quinn said Daniels did some rehab work Wednesday and it went well, but the practice availability will be the key in determining if he can play Sunday.
If Daniels, indeed, can’t play Sunday, the Raiders will face Washington backup Marcus Mariota. He hasn’t started a game since 2022. Mariota, 31, was a Raiders’ backup in 2020-21.
The Raiders will practice later Wednesday. Come back here for any injury updates.
