Davies not considering transfer (Abendzeitung)
Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies will have a true challenger to his starting job, now that Nathaniel Brown has transferred in from Eintracht Frankfurt. However, do not expect Davies to tuck tail and run away due to a little competition:
At the upcoming start of FC Bayern’s training next Monday, the future competitors for the left-back position will meet for the first time as teammates: Alphonso Davies and Nathaniel Brown.
Who currently has the advantage? The new signing is likely in the better position.
Brown, who moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to Bayern for €55 million, was one of coach Vincent Kompany ‘s desired players . Not least because he is versatile. And unlike Davies: he’s usually fit.
According to AZ information, a departure is out of the question for Davies. Despite the signing of Brown, he doesn’t want to leave Bayern but rather fight for his starting position. A few weeks ago, there were rumors about a move to Saudi Arabia, but these have not yet materialized. However, Davies also knows that he must remain injury-free to reach his previous top form from the treble-winning year of 2020. Otherwise, Kompany’s preferred player, Brown, will take the starting position at left-back.
If a top offer for Davies were to come in, Bayern would likely be open to a sale. So far, however, things are quiet. And Davies has already made his decision: he wants to fight for a starting position. Perhaps he and Brown will even be on the pitch together if the versatile new signing is needed in midfield.
Davies might be considering a move, but he is going to be under a bit of fire. First, the Canadian will have to focus on getting fully healthy. Then, the 25-year-old will have to find his top-level once again.
Most fans are expecting Davies to be able to do that, but the road to get back to where he was will not always be easy.
If Olise shows any interest in transfer, Real ready to pounce (Madrid Universal)
In a week full of Michael Olise-Real Madrid stories, this particular news indicates that Real Madrid would be able to act fast and mobilize quickly should Olise want to push for a move to Spain:
Real Madrid have already strengthened several areas of their squad this summer, but the club is not done yet.
Even with Bayern Munich insisting that Michael Olise is not for sale, the Spanish giants are continuing to monitor one of Europe’s most exciting attacking talents in case the transfer landscape changes.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have not made a formal move for the French international yet because Bayern’s position is pretty clear.
However, the club is prepared to act immediately if there is even the slightest indication that negotiations could become possible later in the transfer window.
For now, though, the transfer remains unlikely rather than impossible, with Real Madrid choosing patience over unnecessary pressure.
Financially, it would have to be hard for any club to mobilize for nine figures all that quickly. While Real Madrid is laying low at this point and has backed off its brashness from a weeks ago, the situation does not seem to be going away — at least not yet.
Roma wants Garnacho (ESPN)
AS Roma could be contemplating a pursuit of Chelsea FC star Alejandro Garnacho:
AS Roma are keen to land Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho, according to Corriere dello Sport. Roma are reported to be weighing up a €38 million offer to sign the 22-year-old, who only joined from Manchester United for £40 million in the summer, but are also open to an initial loan deal that would include an optional permanent clause. The Argentina international missed the 2026 World Cup squad and has been training away from the Chelsea first team this summer.
United, NUFC eyeing Larsson (FootballTransfers.com’s Steve Kay)
Manchester United and Newcastle United are both looking at Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson:
Manchester United and Newcastle have both held talks with representatives of Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson as the race for the gifted young midfielder picks up pace, FootballTransfers have been told.
Sources close to the player have revealed to FootballTransfers that initial contact has been made by both Premier League clubs as they assess a potential move for the 22-year-old Sweden international, who is open to a move away from the Bundesliga side.
Neither of the Premier League clubs have yet made an official bid for Larsson, who has developed into one of the standout midfielders in Germany since his €9 million move from Malmo in 2023.
Leipzig added new defender (Sport1)
RB Leipzig has signed 24-year-old center-back Maxime Estève:
RB Leipzig, the Bundesliga club, has strengthened its defense with the signing of French center-back Maxime Estève. As the Saxony-based club announced, the 24-year-old joins from relegated Premier League side Burnley, and Estève has signed a five-year contract until the summer of 2031. According to Sky, the Champions League participant is paying €25 million plus bonuses for the services of the defender, who was a regular starter in England last season.
Koundé not leaving Barca (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Bayern Munich might be looking at Jules Koundé, but it is doubtful that the right-back is leaving FC Barcelona any time soon:
✅ It is TRUE: Jules Koundé wants to stay at Barcelona beyond the summer transfer window. As I mentioned previously, Bayern Munich like the player but they won’t go for him at the moment because they don’t have space for him. For starters, the Frenchman will cost some money, and if he were on the market, FC Bayern would be one of the teams that would, of course, throw their hat into the ring. He’s on a list – it’s a long list – but Bayern have to sell players first. Sacha Boey is one such player in need of offloading. If Hansi Flick were game for a swap deal for Boey and Koundé, of course Bayern Munich would be at the table. But that’s incredibly unlikely!
Bayern Munich’s right-back position is currently manned by Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanišić — and at least right now, Boey, too. Even if Barca would let Koundé go (and he is very good), it would be too much for the position, especially since Laimer is on a new deal.
