With a big game coming up this Sunday against the New York Jets, which is winnable, the Dallas Cowboys are facing challenges well before the opening whistle. Needing to win to draw even in the win/loss
column, the battle on the field may be less taxing than the one on the trainer’s table. After yesterday’s practice report, there was some real concern around the Cowboys’ offense with so many key injuries. Many prominent players were listed as DNP on Wednesday. Today, only raises more red flags.
The offensive line appears to be hit the hardest by injuries. Tyler Guyton (concussion) is still in the league’s concussion protocol and hasn’t been cleared to return to practice. Tyler Smith (knee) and Tyler Booker (ankle) were listed as DNP also on Thursday. There is some speculation among Cowboys insiders that Smith is just resting the knee.
CeeDee Lamb (ankle) and KaVontae Turpin (foot) did not practice, and that duo seems almost assured to be ruled out tomorrow. The depth at wide receiver will surely be tested. Malik Hooker (toe) and Miles Sanders (ankle) are also not practicing. However, in positive news, Caelen Carson (knee) and Trevon Diggs (knee) were limited participants for the second consecutive day. Meanwhile, DaRon Bland (foot) was a full participant again today.
The Jets placed running back Braelon Allen on injured reserve, and he will miss at least the next four games. Edge rusher Jermaine Johnson II also did not practice today with an ankle injury. Tight end Mason Taylor (ankle) was limited on Thursday.
