The 2026 season is upon us! Seattle Seahawks regular season football is close at hand, and the Super Bowl banner reveal will feel so sweet as the Seahawks will face the New England Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch at home in Lumen Field September 9th. How will the Seahawks do to start the season? Without seeing how the 2026 team as a whole play together in a game, especially the offense with a new lead running back and new offensive coordinator, it is hard to say.
The only data we have for both of
these teams are from 2025, and since the teams as a whole are mostly the same, we will use the entirety of the 2025 regular season and playoffs to try to predict this first game. With that said, we will do our best, as we dive into the Week 1 matchup!
The Seahawks
The Seahawks in 2025 were a dominant force. In 2025, they went 17-3 overall capping off the season with that Super Bowl win, and they topped the overall DVOA rankings. They won 85 percent of their games. That is a great percentage, and since the team is mostly the same, I expect similar results this season. With that, they scored an average of 29 points per game with the 10th ranked DVOA on offense, while allowing a league-low 17 points per game. That is a difference of 12 points per game, and no team had a greater point differential than the Seahawks. The Super Bowl champions only allowed an average three to four scores per game, including one shut out against the Minnesota Vikings in 2025. That is a stalwart defense worthy of its number one finish by FTN’s DVOA last season.
The Patriots
Easy schedule or not in 2025, the Patriots still were a good team analytically. They ended the season 16-4, playoffs included, and the ninth best team by DVOA. That is an 80 percent win rate, and one many teams wish they had. They averaged 28 points per game and ranked 3rd in DVOA, and allowing 19 points against, a difference of nine points. They allowed an average of four to five scores per game, and were only the 23rd ranked defense per DVOA.
Seahawks vs. Patriots score prediction
If you were to average out the points the Seahawks scored (29) and the points the Patriots allowed (19) you would come out to 24 points for the Seahawks. For the Patriots, if you averaged they points they scored (28) and the points the Seahawks allowed (17), you come out to 23 points. With that, the Seahawks would be ahead with 24 points to the Patriots 23. Seahawks look to repeat and be the victors of this matchup. Due to that, there is more math to be had. Seahawks on average scored 12 more points than their opponents, so after subtracting that from the Seahawks score to have that 12 point difference, you get an end result of Seahawks 24 Patriots 12.
In conclusion
With it being a home game, having the fans being that 12th Man in the stands cheering them on, I fully expect the Seahawks to win the game. The 24-12 victory is what I am locking in. As the season progresses, I will be using 2026 data to make score predictions.
