The NY Giants are signing edge defender Trace Ford to their 53-man linebacker, per a report from Dan Duggan.
Ford, 25, was originally signed by the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma after the 2025 NFL Draft. He spent that year on the Giants practice squad and was signed to a reserve/futures contract for the 2026 season.
Ford was elevated to the active roster in each of the last two games and was a part of an active rotation. Ford has been impressive in the preseason and has earned the trust
of the Giants coaches.
He was the first man off the bench to spell both Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux against both the Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints. Ford might not have the rare size-athleticism combination boasted by the Giants starting linebackers, but he’s solid in both categories and plays with a wide-open motor.
Ford takes the place of veteran Jihad Ward, who was released by the Giants earlier on Tuesday.
