Given the outstanding regular season success of the 2025-26 Colorado Avalanche, the conclusion of that 82 game slate has added two prestigious awards to their trophy case ahead of the additional voted NHL awards which will be revealed at a later date.
Nathan MacKinnon has made his case for a second Hart Memorial Trophy for the league MVP with a 127 points and a +57 rating in 80 games but his new career high of 53 goals was enough to pace the entire NHL this season. Therefore, MacKinnon has secured
his first Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy and the second in Avalanche team history when Milan Hejduk won it with 50 goals in the 2002-03 season.
At the other side of the ice, the tandem of Scott Wedgewood and Mackenzie Blackwood won the William M. Jennings Trophy for fewest goals allowed on the season with 203 goals against as a team. This is the second time the Avalanche have been awarded the trophy as previously Patrick Roy received the honors in 2001-02. Will either Wedgewood or Blackwood receive Vezina consideration for league’s top goaltender from the voters?
