The NFL will release the 2026 regular season schedule at some point in May, and the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will be the curtain raiser on September 9
. As for the opponent? We may have our answer.ESPN’s Michael Wilbon, lifelong Chicago Bears fan and one half of Pardon the Interruption, was on a host of the network’s morning sports yell-a-thons on Wednesday, including Get Up. If you’re up on your vocalic knowledge and intonation of words, it sounds like Wilbon is indicating that the Bears will
be at Lumen Field to begin the season.
This is not far-fetched when you consider the Bears were agonizingly close to playing in the NFC Championship Game against Seattle, but the Los Angeles Rams escaped Soldier Field with a win and took the L instead. Ben Johnson wowed in his head coaching debut, leading Chicago to its first playoff victory since the Bears dispatched the Seahawks 15 years ago in the NFC Divisional Round. The Bears had a ridiculously high number of close games and thrilling finishes that made them must-see TV, and the thought of Caleb Williams having a second crack at Seattle’s defense after looking flustered and befuddled in the 6-3 “classic” in his rookie season is intriguing.
Given the league tends to trickle out morsels of the whole meal, we should have confirmation of the Seahawks’ first win opponent sooner rather than later. Just be patient, everyone!
