Yesterday, two-time NXT champion and two-time WWE Tag titleholder Tommaso Ciampa officially ended his run with the largest pro wrestling operation the world has ever known. Just a week after announcing
he’d be leaving WWE, Ciampa was moved to the alumni section of their website as “Psycho Killer” merch launched on Pro Wrestling Tees.
A former Ring of Honor standout, Ciampa figured to on Tony Khan’s radar. But early rumors just talked about the 40-year-old possibly heading to New Japan, not AEW. After TNT champion Mark Briscoe successfully defended his title against El Clon and threw out a challenge for Saturday night on Collision, a Sicilian Psychopath emerged:
As Excalibur alluded to on commentary, there is some history between Briscoe and Ciampa. The two crossed paths in ROH a few times circa 2013. That wasn’t why Tommaso gave the champ a kiss though…
No “is All Elite” graphic from TK yet, so this may be a short-term contract just for Saturday’s match. We should know more soon. In the meantime, let us know if you’re excited to see Tommaso Ciampa in AEW in the comments down below, and get complete coverage of tonight’s Dynamite here.
