Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski spoke about his form after scoring his first goal of the season on Sunday for Poland against Finland.
The striker has had a slow start to the new campaign, after picking up an injury in pre-season, and says he knew he wouldn’t really get going until September.
“Before, I didn’t take the risk of playing from the first minute. I knew the season for me would start in September. I was preparing for that,” he told the media.
“It was my first real match where everything
was fine. I didn’t have to think about anything. For me, the season is just starting. I didn’t even want to play in those August matches.”
Lewandowski also grabbed an assist as Poland ran out 3-0 winners in World Cup qualifying.
The striker will now head back to Barcelona and hope to open his account for Barcelona in 2025-26 against Valencia on Sunday.
