Barcelona have identified Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall as a potential left-back signing this summer, according to Football Insider.
The report states that Hall has been shortlisted alongside Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo and Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso as Barcelona look to strengthen in that position.
“The likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali have been heavily linked with an exit from St James’ Park in recent weeks, and Lewis Hall has now been shortlisted by Barcelona with a view
to them making a move,” Evan Shaw wrote. “The Spanish giants are keen to strengthen in the left-back position this summer, and they have already identified the England international as a target, along with Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo and Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso.”
Football Insider reports that Barcelona’s coaching staff were impressed by Hall’s performances across both legs of the recent Champions League last-16 tie between the clubs and have now earmarked the England international as a clear target.
The outlet also claims Hall is valued in the region of £25million, citing Spanish publication Sport, which makes all reports highly hard to believe because, in all honesty, that’s a laughable fee for Newcastle to accept in exchange for one of their best up-and-coming players.
Hall, 21, has made 24 Premier League appearances this season, and per the report, ranks joint-first in the Newcastle squad for successful dribbles per 90 minutes at 1.7 and first for tackles per 90 at 2.4, also creating 20 chances and having two goal involvements.
Hall has also earned a call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the March internationals, potentially increasing his profile ahead of the summer window and having a shot at starting for the Three Lions at the 2026 World Cup.
