Even though the 1-4 finish to the 2025 season appears to have left the majority of the fanbase’s mood ranging from sour to skeptical rather than hopeful, last season did provide its share of highlights. This week we asked you to choose your favorite from the following:
1) Malcolm Hartzog picks off Brendan “Lubbock Slim” Sorsby in the end zone with :34 left to preserve the 20-17 win over Cincinnati in the opener. 2) Dylan
Raiola and Jacory Barney Jr hook up for a 52-yard Hail Mary to tie Michigan 17-17 going into halftime. 3) Nyziah Hunter takes a pair of inside screens for 59 and 64-yard TD’s in consecutive quarters over the Michigan State and Maryland games. 4) Kenneth Williams opens the 2nd half of the Northwestern game with a 95-yard kickoff return to re-ignite the team and the crowd on the way to a 28-21 victory. 5) Emmett Johnson runs and catches for 232 total yards to take down UCLA 28-21, while also scoring a pair of touchdowns on receptions of 56 and 40 yards.
Here’s how you tallied:
- Before transferring to Arizona following an injury-riddled 2025 season, he gave 48% of you your favorite play of the year. After driving to the Husker 33 with :34 left, the Bearcats decided to take a shot at the end zone on 1st & 10 and Hartzog wasn’t fooled. The 5’9” three-year starter leapt and grabbed the Sorsby pass. A few ticks later, the Huskers were 1-0.
- Some forget that on the previous play, Hartzog was flagged for defensive holding. The redemptions was immediate.
- Emmett Johnson garnered 33% for his 232 total yards on the Bruins. That televised performance on Big Ten After Dark began sealing his eventual selections as a 1st and 2nd Team All-American.
- Rounding things out were Kenneth Williams 95-yard return at 14%, highlighting a rejuvenated special teams under the already-departed Mike Ekeler, and Jacory Barney fending off multiple Wolverines for the Michigan Hail Mary.
- Nyziah Hunter received zero votes for his long-run inside screen TD’s. Hopefully, he sees this and his fury at being neglected propels him to a 1300-yard, 11 TD season in 2026.
