Week 5 is in the books. We still have three undefeated teams. The Eagles are in serious trouble. The NFC East won zero games this weekend, despite two teams in that division playing one another. Let’s take a look back at how former Hawks did this week.
Alaric Jackson
We start here for all the wrong reasons. After LA’s 37-34 overtime loss to the Bills in Los Angeles on Monday night, Jackson decided that was a good time to get into an altercation with Buffalo defensive end Bradley Chubb. The altercation ended
with Jackson throwing a right jab into Chubb’s jaw.
Jackson is now the recipient of a 2-game suspension. Good work. Come on, Alaric.
Sam LaPorta and Jack Campbell
LaPorta is the clear tight end winner this weekend after some really quiet games from Noah Fant, TJ Hockenson, and George Kittle. LaPorta caught 5 passes for 88 yards and this insanely wide open touchdown early in the game.
LaPorta’s touchdown opened the floodgates in a 7-7 game, as the Lions raced to a 45-14 lead before a late Arizona touchdown made this look closer than it was. On the other side of the ball, Campbell collected 11 tackles.
Noah Fant, TJ Hockenson, and George Kittle
The rest of the tight end quartet were stunningly quiet. Fant and Hockenson went head to head and both ended with identical 1 catch for 7 yards stat lines. It was the Vikings though that came away with the win, 23-13, to join San Francisco and Kansas City as the lone unbeaten teams in the league.
Kittle did slightly better than Fant and Hockenson, finishing San Francisco’s impressive 32-29 win over the defending Super Bowl champions with 5 catches for 24 yards.
Potpourri
Hey I forgot about Erick All! The tight end quintet! All finished Cincinnati’s 31-24 win over Miami with 3 receptions for 25 yards. Tory Taylor was busy, punting 4 times for a 53.0 yard average in Chicago’s 31-7 loss to Green Bay. Kaleb Johnson had 7 carries for 26 yards for the Packers, while Lukas Van Ness and Nick Niemann had two tackles apiece. Cooper DeJean logged 10 tackles while AJ Epenesa picked up 1 and a pass defended, but the Eagles dropped one of the dumbest games you’ll ever see in London, 19-17 to Jacksonville. That was only topped by the silliness that ensued between the Giants and Commanders, a 27-27 tie that featured a colossal mess up from Jayden Daniels. Drew Stevens finished with two made field goals on two attempts but a missed PAT. It should have been three makes and a game winner, but Daniels had other ideas.
