The Pittsburgh Steelers are placing defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day on IR, the team announced on Thursday. By rule, he will miss the team’s next four games. Joseph-Day did not practice on Wednesday due to a triceps injury
Pittsburgh’s defensive line depth has been tested early. Rising star Derrick Harmon was injured in Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns and placed on IR with a foot injury. Now without Joseph-Day, Pittsburgh will lean heavily on the likes of Yahya Black and rookie Gabriel Rubio
to play major roles alongside Cam Heyward and Keeanu Benton.
The Steelers will face a Saints team that ranks 21st in rush success rate this season, and as a defense, Pittsburgh has been great at defending the run. They allowed just 45 rushing yards to Jonathan Taylor and 46 yards to Bucky Irving. Pittsburgh is tied for sixth in the league in stuffed runs.
