Manuel Neuer is not ready to make a definitive call on his future just yet.
The Bayern Munich captain confirmed that he will take the 2026/27 season as it comes, with his focus firmly on competing for the biggest trophies before deciding what happens beyond next summer.
“I’ll just let everything come my way and then see what happens. I will approach the season with the aim of pursuing the biggest goals. And we’ll see what happens beyond that,”said Neuer (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
For now, Vincent
Kompany has made one thing clear: Neuer remains Bayern Munich’s undisputed No. 1.
“We communicated with Manu and with Jonas very clearly internally. That’s the most important thing. Jonas will get his minutes again this season. That’s part of his development and hopefully his future with us. But Manu is our #1, that’s very clear. We’re happy with this situation,” Kompany said during an appearance on MagentaTV (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
That means Urbig will continue to receive opportunities as part of his development, but Neuer will lead the position.
With Neuer’s contract situation still unresolved, the upcoming season could ultimately become an important one in determining whether the legendary goalkeeper continues beyond 2027 — or brings his extraordinary Bayern Munich career to an end.
