One of the early criticisms of Vincent Kompany has been his management of player minutes and rotation. In the past few matches, however, he has helped silence those critics with plenty of squad changes, particularly during Bayern Munich’s 4-1 dismantling of Hoffenheim.
And he’s getting tired of the topic.
“To be honest, I’m surprised with how often I’ve been asked this question,” Kompany said during the post-match presser (via @iMiaSanMia). “Come on guys, we’re in 2025. I think everyone understands
now that it’s very important to use the squad and not wait until things go south before doing that.”
He has handled that well, same with the team especially with the direction in which they are headed. Bayern is playing well and Kompany will want to keep that going for as long as he can.
When Bayern Munich traveled to Sinsheim on a short week after taking down Chelsea FC in the Champions League, it was never going to be easy.
Hoffenheim is well-coached, motivated, and playing with a real fire. For a weary Bayern Munich side, that meant trouble, but Vincent Kompany heavily rotated his men and while it was not always dominant or even pretty, the Bavarians showed their grit once again in a 4-1 win.
