MVP’s Nakisa Bidarian spoke to reporters following the opening press conference for the Nov. 14 Jake vs Tank card, and tells the public that there will be a decision read in the fight despite it being
an exhibition bout that will not go on either fighter’s professional record.
“It’s an exhibition [with a decision] at 195 max weight, 10 three-minute rounds, and 12 oz gloves,” Bidirian said. “And most of you guys know boxing, right? Most of the fights are with 10 oz gloves, fighters spar in 16 oz gloves. 12 oz and 10 oz gloves give you a little bit more safety which is the key here given the size difference, but there’s a massive experience difference.
“We will have three world class judges ringside that the commission has approved to ensure there’s a rendered decision for the fans. It will not go on their record, but there will be three experienced judges — some of the best in the business — giving their view of who won the fight.
“Tank is focused on coming in in the best shape of his life, it’s not about gaining weight, it’s about having the speed advantage…Tomorrow morning, 8:00am ET, we will announce five fights, four of which are title fights…No prospects on a big show like that.”
Bidarian would refuse comment as to whether or not there’s a rehydration clause in effect for this fight, but it’s probably reasonable to infer that there will be one given his response and the massive size differential between the combatants.
