Nebraska had a tough first half, but that didn’t seem to slow down the Huskers nor did it slow down Amiah Hargrove, who shot 7/7 from the floor. The depth this team has is going to help out so much down the road
and it will only get better once Natalie Potts rejoins the lineup.
Also I’d like to give Avery Koenen her flowers, that girl can ball and play with just about anybody. I will be following her career from now on.
Starters stayed the same with Prince, Hake, Weaver, Bozan, and Petrie.
Logan Nissley and Emily Fisher are both available to play this afternoon.
First Quarter
North Dakota State has come out playing some fairly good defense, but not enough to stop Britt Prince from getting to the basket. Turnovers and fouls are hurting the Huskers right now, Britt Prince and Petra Bozan pick up back to back; that is also Bozan’s second foul already. NDSU is up 6-2 early in this one so far, Jessica Petrie has a chance to cut it to two with a pair of free throws (2of2). After a few empty possessions for the Huskers, Eliza Maupin heads to the line and drains both free throws. Logan Nissley checks in for the first time after missing the last couple games. Prince gets the and-1 opportunity and makes good of it, Maupin gives Nebraska the lead shorty after. (11-10 Neb). We head to a media timeout with 4:25 remaining in the first quarter.
Callin Hake drills a three as the shot clock is expiring, tries to draw a charge on the defensive end but picks up the foul instead. Britt Prince is up to seven points after hitting a back door layup. Claire Johnson does the dirty work to get the rebound off a Jessica Petrie miss and gets the put back to go. Nebraska is up 20-15 with 1:25 left in the first quarter. NDSU hits a buzzer beater right before the end of the first, Nebraska still up two (22-20 Neb).

Second Quarter
NDSU seems to be having their way with Nebraska, still it’s a two point game, both teams trading baskets now. The Bison have taken the lead on an Avery Koenen put back, she’s been so good for NDSU. Jessica Petrie gets the layup to go off the inbound, after a Kennadi Williams steal, Prince takes it to the hoop (30-32 NDSU). Petrie heads to the line after being fouled and splits the pair. Emily Fisher is checking in for the first time this afternoon. We will take a media timeout with 4:58 left in the half, Bison are up one.
Petra Bozan check back in and immediately drains the three to give Nebraska the two point lead, but then picks up her third foul and will have to check right back out. Amiah Hargrove gets the defensive rebound on one end and gets the layup on the other, assisted by Logan Nissley. Kennadi Williams is playing some really good defense right now, making it hard for the Bison to feel comfortable. Speaking of Williams she called her own number and took it straight to the basket for two (40-24 Neb). Under a minute left to play in the first half. Prince is just so quick, she gets to her left hand and is gone for another layup. Nebraska ends the half up by eight.

Amiah Hargrove: 6 points

NDSU is shooting 48% from the floor, but just 12.5% from long range.
Third Quarter
Yeah, Avery Koenen is just really good at basketball. Like really good. Annnnd Petra just picked up her fourth foul, so she’ll end back to the bench. Callin Hake with the beautiful pass to a back door cutting Prince for the basket. Eliza Maupin runs the floor and gets rewarded with a layup of her own (46-36 Neb). Maupin misses the first try, gets her own rebound and then hits the reverse layup on Koenen. Logan Nissley snipes the big three from the corner for her first points of the game (53-41 Neb). Media timeout at the 4:58 mark.
Amiah Hargrove will be shooting free throws out of the timeout, she drains both. Petrie gets called for just about the worst foul ever, it’ll send NDSU to the line. Hailey Weaver gets her second block of the game and then the steal right after. Hargrove steals the rebound from NDSU and gets the put back (57-45 Neb). We’re subbing in five players right now, don’t see that too often, but Nebraska has the depth for it. Callin Hake gets the defensive rebound and then hits the tough fall away shot. Petra Bozan is left all alone inside the paint and has the easy two points, Nebraska up 10 with less than a minute left in the third. I’m laughing at the offensive foul call they just put on Prince. NDSU ends the quarter with a bucket, Huskers are still up 61-55. On to the fourth.
Nebraska 61 NDSU 55
Fourth Quarter
Britt Prince has shaken that foul call off and gets another back door cut bucket to go, but Avery Koenen continues to be a problem for Nebraska. Jessica Petrie gets the two, a great defensive possession on the other end and then Amiah Hargrove gets the tough second chance points. PETRIE WITH THE BIG BLOCK ON KOENEN! PETRIEEEEE THREEEEEEE!! (70-59 Neb) Hargrove is up to 14 points now after she hits a tough shot. Make it 17 points, she just drilled a three from NBA range. We will go to a media timeout with 4:34 left in the game.
Well that was quick, NDSU calls another timeout after Hargrove gets an offensive board that leads to a Claire Johnson layup. Hailey Weaver baits a pass that turns into a NDSU turnover, that will lead to Johnson the line (1of2). Johnson is in double digits with a three that had to think about whether it wanted to go in or not, but she gets the friendly bounce (81-67 Neb). Great defense by Amiah who stood her ground and collected the rebound. Britt Prince gets fouled and will head to the line, she hits one of two. Not a lot has been happening here the last little bit, just a couple of garbage time baskets and fouls trying to extend the game.
