The Commanders ruled safety Nick Cross (internal/illness) and quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) out of Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks almost a week ago now.
There was at least some hope that more key players could recover in time to face the Super Bowl champs. It’s now a virtual certainty that linebacker Frankie Luvu (groin), tight end Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) and right guard Sam Cosmi (concussion) won’t be available.
General manager Adam Peters said in Friday morning interview with 106.7-FM
The Fan in Washington that he would be a “longshot” for those three to play. Then they didn’t practice a few hours after the interview. Dan Quinn considered it unlikely that trio would be available, he told on-site reporters in a Friday presser.
The Commanders official injury report won’t come out until later on Friday, but it’s fair to assume Luvu, Okonkwo and Cosmi will be ruled out.
There’s a bit more optimism about defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw, but we’ll have to wait and see about a designation on him and a few others who were limited, including linebacker Leo Chenal and defensive lineman Charles Omenihu.
