The Virginia Tech Hokies look to improve to 4-0 on Saturday for the first time since 2017, when they hit the road on Saturday to face the Boston College Eagles. The Hokies and Eagles have a rivalry dating back to their shared time in the Big East, which carried over into the ACC. Virginia Tech and Boston College met in the ACC Championship Game in 2007 and 2008, with each team winning once.
VT and BC didn’t play their first meeting until 1993, and in every year since, except last season. The Hokies
lead the all-time series 22-11. Tech has had its share of troubles in Chestnut Hill over the years, losing two of the past three meetings there. And this year, the weather is expected to have a significant impact.

He leads the Eagles in rushing, averaging 4.7 yards per carry, and also has a rushing touchdown. Last week, Virginia Tech faced a top-tier passer in Malik Washington. This week, McKenzie is more prone to beat you with his legs. The Hokies did well against ODU’s Quinn Henicle in Week 2. The weather could make McKenzie even more dangerous this week.

That’s how many interceptions McKenzie has thrown through three games. He has at least one interception in all three of BC’s games, and two interceptions each in the Eagles’ last two games against Rutgers and Maine. An already shaky passing game makes it more important than ever for the Hokies to shut down the running game and force McKenzie to throw in the inclement weather. Virginia Tech’s defense could have a multiple-turnover day.

Senior linebacker Anthony Palano leads the Eagles with 34 tackles, including 17 solo. He also has a sack and two interceptions. The Washington State transfer picked off both of his passes in the win over Rutgers, the second of which sealed the win for the Eagles. The Hokies need to account for Palano on every snap.

Virginia Tech junior tight end Luke Reynolds has caught 25 passes through three weeks, which leads all tight ends in college football. His 265 receiving yards are second only to Hunter Tipton of Memphis, who has 307 yards in four games. Reynolds has also caught four touchdowns, which also leads all tight ends nationally. He is a native of Massachusetts, so he should be in store for another big game on Saturday.
