The Kentucky Wildcats will not make it to the weekend in the SEC Tournament as they lose to the Florida Gators by a final score of 71-63. The Cats were destroyed on the glass by the Gators as freshman big man Malachi Moreno was not able to play late in the second-half.
Moreno, the Wildcats’ starting 7-footer, checked out with 9:43 to go in the second half and did not return to Friday afternoon’s game as Mark Pope told the media that Moreno was dealing with a bit of “soreness” in his right leg.
Pope
added that Moreno should have received some treatment as he went into the locker room briefly. He also said that Moreno will be fine with a few days of rest.
Moreno played 21 minutes in the Wildcats’ loss to the Gators. He finished the game with six points (2/3 FG) and five rebounds. He was desperately needed as the Cats were destroyed on the glass, especially late in the second-half.
Moreno should be ready come NCAA Tournament time, as the Wildcats will get a few days of rest and await their location and seeding, as Mark Pope will lead his team to back-to-back tournament appearances.
