Former LSU Tiger and current Houston Gamblers safety Major Burns reportedly attended a workout invite with the Miami Dolphins on Monday.
Burns was a standout player for the Tigers as a four-year player from 2021 to 2024. He accumulated
over 200 tackles, ten pass breakups, two and a half sacks, a forced fumble, and two interceptions during his time at LSU. Although Major played a critical role in LSU’s defensive groupings, he was not drafted in 2025 and instead signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent.
The athletic defender suffered a knee injury in Chicago’s preseason opener last year, leading to his placement on the injured reserve list. The Bears would eventually waive Burns after both sides agreed to an injury settlement.
The safety would use this time to heal and seek out new opportunities, which he found in the United Football League with the Houston Gamblers. Major was a bright spot for the Gamblers, who missed out on the playoffs this year. One of the better defensive players in the league, Burns led the UFL in interceptions and made his presence felt with five tackles for loss.
Even with some setbacks and injury history that would cause so many athletes to fold and give up on the dream, Burns has found himself again while staring adversity in the face, seemingly performing better than ever.
