Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Falcons fans and fans across the country.
Although Tua Tagovailoa was selected as the starter against Pittsburgh, it’s inevitable that Michael Penix Jr. will take over as the signal caller at some point. Evidence from training camp and preseason suggests Tagovailoa is merely a placeholder as Penix Jr. gets healthy.
From his inability to push the ball downfield to maneuver around
the pocket, the former Dolphin’s glaring limitations will make it difficult to maintain faith in his ability to maxmize the offense’s capabilities.
A daunting road matchup to start the season will only increase the conversations about Penix Jr. taking over. After facing the Panthers in their home opener, a short week to Green Bay may raise the pressure even further among a fan base that has endured incompetent quarterback play for too long.
An extended week to prepare to face their biggest rival may be an ideal time to make the switch. Performance will ultimately determine how the coaching staff moves forward, but it’s hard to envision the Falcons getting off to a winning start in September.
When do you expect Kevin Stefanski to make a quarterback change?
