When it’s all said and done, you need to play the games. Needless to say, two games in, it’s apparent that growth is necessary if the Denver Broncos are truly going to compete among contenders this season.
Sure, the Broncos were royally hosed by the referees, but as it’s been said for decades before us, you can’t put yourself in position for the referees to make the difference in a close game. On Sunday, Denver left the door wide open with clutch sloppiness when it mattered most. They dug deep and
found a way.
Whether it’s a missed field goal, defensive ineptitude, an untimely interception, or any of the miscues that have plagued the Broncos in this young season, there was no shortage of pitfalls that led to the Broncos first loss of the season.
The only thing standing in the way of NFL dominance and the Broncos is the Broncos. They need to decide if they’ll be the first Broncos team in a decade to make a legit run in the playoffs or if this is another year where they’re just happy to be there… if they make it.
All the preseason accolades and doting television personalities are great in the offseason, but they’re cold comfort when you’re sitting at .500 with major questions in all three phases of the game. Can they play better? Absolutely. Do they have the talent to win? They absolutely do. Do they want to win?
We’re fixing to find out.
