The Ravens are finally bringing in some competition for second-year kicker Tyler Loop. Jake Moody, who was released by the Commanders two weeks ago, is joining Baltimore’s practice squad, per a team announcement.
Loop, 25, struggled in the preseason. The 2025 sixth-round pick converted just five of his eight field goal attempts with misses from 49, 51, and 58 yards, raising questions about his ability to deliver in the regular season. Though he made 88.2% of his field goals as a rookie, he only went
1-of-4 from 50 yards or more and, of course, sliced a 44-yarder wide right to end the Ravens’ season in Week 18.
Moody, 26, represents a real alternative to Loop after a strong finish to the 2025 season. He was released by the 49ers after missing two kicks in Week 1, but rebounded with 18 conversions on 20 attempts in eight games (two in Chicago, six in Washington) to close out the year.
Moody lost the Commanders’ kicking battle to undrafted rookie Drew Stevens this summer and was waived on August 17. His arrival in Baltimore signifies that the Ravens will be actively assessing their kicking situation moving forward. The team would not waste a practice spot if they were not considering a chance.
