The Cincinnati Bengals made two more free agency moves today, signing former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Kyle Dugger and former Los Angeles Chargers corner Ja’Sir Taylor to one-year deals.
These are low-risk signings that could ultimately pay off down the stretch if the Bengals are back in contention, similar to the addition of Eli Apple in 2021.
Fans on Twitter were generally positive about the addition of Dugger.
The perceived thinking of Cincinnati’s front office is
that the veteran safety will add stability and fundamentals to a young and inconsistent defense.
The addition of Dugger left some wondering if this could mean the team won’t be taking Ohio State standout safety Caleb Downs in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft.
Meanwhile, most fans see Taylor as a good depth piece.
Others see him as more than that. Some went so far as to praise the Bengals’ secondary as now being a point of strength.
Dugger and Taylor won’t make or break the defense, but the Bengals have now added five players via free agency to that side of the ball, which should at least give them more options in the Draft.
