Sometimes the lights are too bright. It is hard to not come to this conclusion these days, as silly as it is, given everything we have seen from the Brian Schottenheimer-led Dallas Cowboys. Over these last two losses the Cowboys have been handled rather easily and each time it occurred in primetime television slots.
Maybe you don’t find it silly. Maybe you believe that playing in primetime adds to the pressure. There is certainly an argument to be made. Again, I feel like the Cowboys play in so many
big games that this is sort of a moot point overall, but the data is pretty overwhelming.
The Cowboys have been really bad in primetime
This discussion carries merit because Monday’s Dallas Cowboys game is, like the last two, in primetime. America’s Team, baby.
Monday will mark the fourth game this season that Dallas plays in primetime and the previous three, Week 1 against the New York Giants was the other, have all been losses.
Here’s the thing, the Cowboys have been horrendous in primetime for a while now. Here is, shout out to Stathead, their primetime record under Brian Schottenheimer specifically.
The Cowboys are 1-7-1 in primetime under Brian Schottenheimer. One. Seven. And one.
So far Schotty has only overseen one successful primetime game and it was also a Monday night affair, last year’s win against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Is this truly something that we can connect to time? Do we really believe the lights get too bright for this team? Or is it simply a matter of coincidence?
As I’ve stated several times I find it hard to believe that the big stage of things bothers them. It wasn’t a primetime game by definition, but the team did beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving Day last year so we know they can rise to the occassion.
Maybe I’m wrong, though. Perhaps you believe that the pressure rises for them in these instances.
