Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are the stories you need to as the first place Giants get ready to face off tomorrow against the Philadelphia Eagles.
New York Giants’playoff fate will be heavily influenced by Eagles game | USAToday.com
Based on the analytics and percentages, a Giants win would put them in prime position for a playoff spot. A loss would drop them back deep into the pack. A Giants win would give them a 68 percent chance to win the NFC East and a 71 percent shot at making the playoffs.
A loss would lessen their division odds to 41 percent and their postseason
odds to 43 percent. So, this is kind of a “must-win” for Big Blue (4-2-1) as their schedule gets dicey in the second half of the season.
Coach Harbaugh breaking down Texans film
Harbs Weekly: Earn the right to play in memorable games | Giants.com
Q: Getting into November football, is there a new skill that your team has to unlock?
Harbaugh: Everything is new. Every step of the way is going to be new this year. I think it’s kind of what first years are a lot of times. Like we told them, this is November football. You’ve earned the right to play meaningful games in November. What does that mean? What are you playing for? I asked them, “What do they say about December football? Have you heard the old saying?” And someone got it. [Fullback Patrick] Ricard got it. “They remember what you do in December.” That’s right. I said that’s what they remember. I said they won’t really remember November too much. But without November you can’t get to the point where you’re playing games that are going to be memorable. That’s what we’re playing for right now. We’re playing for the opportunity to play in memorable games, and that’s why November is so important and we’ve earned the right to be to be playing in these games. So, it’s just another notch up of value and then I just talked to them a little bit about as the season goes along, it’s still one game but each game becomes worth more. It’s one game, that’s what this is about, but each game becomes even more valuable because there’s more payoff. Later, that’s why they remember what you do in December. There’s more payoff. So, that’s kind of cool.
Giants not looking past Saquon Barkley and struggling Eagles | New York Post
“Before Lane Johnson had a name, before Jason Kelce had a name, before Cam Jurgens had a name, they had to go earn it,” defensive tackle Shelby Harris said. “You can’t put down anybody just because they haven’t established themselves in the league. The idea is you don’t want them to establish themselves against you. They’re still physical, they’re humungous size-wise across the board, so it’s just go out there and don’t let them be the determining factor of the game.”
“I’m expecting [Barkley] to be healthier than he has been so far,” Harris said. “They’ve done a good job trying to manage him on his way back from injury. If he’s going to play, I expect to get the best out of him — full-on star Saquon Barkley. And we’ll have to stop him in order to be successful.”

What we’re hearing on the Giants: The Giants believe the bye week should’ve helped QB J.J. McCarthy. He’s now fully caught up after being traded to New York in late September. McCarthy, who is making his second start for the Giants, expects Eagles DC Vic Fangio to make him “earn it.” It will be the latest test of whether the young QB can succeed while facing simulated pressures and getting through his progressions.

Ravens’ Derrick Henry is frustrated. Will Giants’ John Harbaugh try to trade for him? | NJ.com
“I mean, we’ve lost four times [in a row],” Henry said. “It’s frustrating. I don’t have the magical answer. We’ve got to go back to work.” When asked about a potential trade, Henry said, “I have not mentioned me going anywhere else. I’m saying let’s go back to work.”
Henry turns 33 in January. He is under contract through next season. Harbaugh doesn’t want a one-year rental, and Henry technically would not be that. His salary next year is $11 million — all of which is non-guaranteed. He has a $1 million roster bonus due in March. So the Ravens (or Giants) have a team option on him for 2027.
The 10 best NFL player matchups to watch in Week 9 | PFF
New York Giants WR Malik Nabers vs. Philadelphia Eagles CB Quinyon Mitchell. The Giants seek to widen their NFC East lead when they face the Eagles, losers of six in a row. While a battle of backup quarterbacks may be the top storyline, Nabers vs. Mitchell will be must-see television. Nabers has returned from his torn ACL with a vengeance. He’s earned an 82.8 PFF receiving grade with 2.54 yards per route run, numbers that have culminated despite a slower first three games. On top of that, the former sixth overall pick has dropped only two catchable targets all year.
Philadelphia’s defense has regressed in 2026, but not because of Mitchell. He’s generated a 67.2 PFF coverage grade, letting up a 69.2 passer rating into his coverage while enabling just a 54.3% opponent completion percentage. Mitchell has had the advantage when these former 2024 first-round picks have squared off. Across 11 prior matchups, Nabers has gained just one catch for nine yards on two targets, being charted as open only three times.
Giants look to snap losing streak in Philadelphia. If not now, when? | The Athletic
The Giants have had heartbreakers at Lincoln Financial Field, but a loss Sunday would be the worst of the streak because they’re the better team with a far more promising outlook. The Giants are 3.5-point favorites Sunday and winning in Philadelphia would be another step in Harbaugh’s process of rebuilding the franchise.
Harbaugh’s track record suggests the Giants are in a strong position to end the streak. His Ravens teams went 15-3 after the bye during his 18 seasons in Baltimore. “We’ve got everything to gain and we know how big this game is,” Harbaugh said. “We know who we’re going against. We’ll be ready.”
