It was a good morning for Tigers fans as they found out College Gameday is headed to Nashville for Mizzou’s matchup on the road against Vanderbilt.
For people who might be confused, College Gameday is a weekly show, similar to SEC Nation, hosted by Rece Davis and joined by analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and Nick Saban at the desk. It’s a super entertaining show and this
marks the first time this season Mizzou has the opportunity to be involved.
In fact, Mizzou hasn’t been featured on the show since 2010 when they hosted a Homecoming matchup against then-No. 3 Oklahoma, defeating the Sooners 36-27.
The last time College Gameday was in Nashville — and the only time — was when Vanderbilt hosted since 2008, where the Commodores defeated the Tigers of Auburn, 14-13. Vandy went on to lose their next four following a 5-0 start.
Vanderbilt is going to be no easy task for Missouri as it just defeated LSU this weekend in the same stadium. Returning QB Diego Pavia took the Tigers to double OT last season at Memorial Stadium. In front of their home crowd, the Commodores are going to be really tough.
The Commodores are currently 6-1, like the Tigers, and strangely enough, their loss came to Alabama as well. The Crimson Tide hosted Vanderbilt — in the Commodores first Gameday appearance of the season — during Week 6 and took care of business at home, 30-14.
A win would do wonders for Mizzou. Back-to-back road victories, one against a ranked Vanderbilt, would put the Tigers in a great position to potentially make the College Football Playoffs. That being said, Mizzou’s schedule won’t get much easier as it’ll face currently Top 10 teams in Texas A&M at home and Oklahoma on the road.
