Happy Cougar Football Saturday, football fans!
Pac-12 play officially gets underway today across the conference. Tonight, your Washington State Cougars will kickoff their conference slate, and conclude their homestand, against the Fresno State Bulldogs.
The Cougars are coming off a 34-24 loss to the Arizona Wildcats last week. They raced out to a 14-0 lead off an opening drive touchdown and a Jack Bal pick-six. They were unable to hold the momentum as the Wildcats answered back with a pair of touchdowns
to tie it at 14 before the Cougars tacked on a field goal to end the first half. Arizona went on to outscore WSU 20-7 over the final 30 minutes of play to take the win.
Fresno State moved to 3-1 last week with a win over the Rice Owls. They overcame a 17-14 halftime deficit with 17 unanswered to take a 31-24 lead. Rayshon Luke put the dagger into Rice with a 52-yard touchdown run for a 38-24 Bulldog victory.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and can be found nationally on USA Network.
This will be the third game in the conference to kickoff. Oregon State travels down to Colorado State at 3 p.m., while Utah State faces off with Boise State in Boise at 4:30 p.m. The nightcap will be Texas State against San Diego State at 7:30 p.m.
As for the uniforms, WSU will be matching the ‘Pac-12 After Dark’ theme with the season debut of the anthracite jerseys.
Mark it as another new combo for WSU. They did wear the same helmet shell, jersey, pant combo last year at Colorado State, but this time they will be wearing the combo with a crimson facemask, and it appears a white outline around the WSU logo. This will be the sixth time WSU has worn the new anthracite jerseys, having worn them two times in 2024 and three times in 2025. They are 4-1 in the jerseys with the lone loss coming in the 2025 Apple Cup.
Go Cougs!
