Injuries have taken another blow to the Seattle Seahawks’ defense ahead of their Week 10 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that Seahawks veteran defensive tackle Jarran Reed has been downgraded to out with wrist and thumb injuries. Reed fully practiced every day this week and didn’t even have an injury designation, so this is a surprise. This will be the first game that Reed has missed since 2023, when he was held out of a game against the Cardinals in Week
18 with a knee injury.
Reed has been a staple along the Seahawks’ front during his second stint with the team, totaling 1.5 sacks and six quarterback hits through eight games in 2025. Without Reed, the Seahawks will be forced to lean on Byron Murphy II, Seattle’s first-round pick in 2024, who is in the midst of a breakout season.
The Seahawks will also need long-time rotational player Mike Morris to step up in place of Reed. Morris was named a captain for Sunday’s game against Arizona, perhaps shedding some light on the confidence the staff has in him to elevate his game this week.
Reed’s injury is the latest loss for the Seahawks’ defense, which will be missing breakout cornerback Josh Jobe (concussion) and could be without starting linebacker Ernest Jones. For his part, Jones is currently doubtful to play with a knee injury he suffered last week against the Washington Commanders.
