The Kansas City Chiefs are focused on the task at hand this season, returning to the postseason and potentially the Super Bowl.
Legendary tight end Travis Kelce re-signed with the team this offseason with that in mind. Once that mission is complete, Kelce’s off-field talents could be in very high demand in 2027.

The latest Kansas City Chiefs news
There could be a three-way bidding war for Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce, and it has nothing to do with him on the football field | A to Z Sports
“Last year, Travis Kelce and Greg Olsen were inquiring with Amazon about whether or not the Prime Video spot would be available this year, and Kirk Herbstreit was still under contract,” Mike Florio said on Pardon My Take. “So, Kelce was looking at this last year. He’s already got the relationship with Amazon with New Heights, but his brother’s already got the relationship in place with ESPN, and he’s going to be the one.
“He’s going to be the one they all want. And as it stands, CBS is going to be looking, ESPN is going to be looking, and Prime Video did that extension with Herbstreit, which basically has a clause that says if we find anyone better, we can tear up your contract. So there could be a three-way bidding war for Travis Kelce, and I think they’re all going to want him. And I think he’s going to be in a booth somewhere next year.”
Chiefs punter Matt Araiza off to great start by using legs in more ways than one | The Kansas City Star
“I couldn’t believe it, because … I sprinted downfield to cover (on the punt that was blown dead by penalty),” Araiza said. “So I’m dead tired. My cardio is not very good. I don’t really work on it that much. I get back to the line of scrimmage, thinking, ‘What do I want to do? Hit the ball in the same direction, maybe switch it up?
“And then I see the look, and I’m like, ‘No way.’ Sure enough, it worked out.”
One big key to the fake’s success was how Araiza sold a punt look to the Raiders upon taking the snap from James Winchester.
Two Bold Predictions for the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6 | Athlon Sports
Bold Prediction No. 1: Running Back Emmett Johnson Sees Largest Workload
The Chiefs have been singing the fifth-round pick’s praise since training camp. He has done everything the team has asked and done it well. However, with running back Kenneth Walker III running all over opposing defenses, Johnson has just 16 rushes for 56 yards and five receptions for 74 yards. The Chiefs have hinted that a larger role was coming for the rookie, but it hasn’t happened yet.
Chiefs nose tackle Khyiris Tonga is playing almost as much offense as Travis Hunter | Pro Football Talk
Jaguars cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter has been much-hyped for his status as a two-way player, first as a Heisman Trophy winner at Colorado and now in the NFL. But there’s another two-way player in the NFL this season who hasn’t received as much hype: Chiefs nose tackle and fullback Khyiris Tonga.
Like Hunter, Tonga has started every game on defense this season. Like Hunter, Tonga has played only limited offensive snaps this season. Tonga has two carries; Hunter has two catches. Both have picked up one first down.
Hunter plays a little bit more on offense, but not much more: Hunter has played 6.8 percent of the Jaguars’ offensive snaps, while Tonga has played 4.2 percent of the Chiefs’ offensive snaps.
Around the NFL
Broncos’ Jonathon Cooper removed from NFL commissioner’s exempt list, can play in Week 7 | The Athletic
The NFL has removed Denver Broncos outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper from the commissioner’s exempt list, making him eligible to play when the team travels to face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7.
Cooper, 28, was placed on the list Aug. 30 and was ineligible to play or practice with the team during the first six weeks of the season. His placement on the list was the result of two June arrests stemming from a pair of domestic incidents with his then-girlfriend. Cooper is facing multiple charges, including a second-degree felony assault charge, and is currently scheduled for a trial date in March.
Packers’ Josh Jacobs eligible to return next week amid investigation | ESPN
The league’s investigation into Jacobs under the personal conduct policy remains ongoing, however, leaving open the possibility that he could still be suspended.
When he comes off the list next week, Jacobs will have missed the first six games of the season, and those games would count toward any suspension. However, if Jacobs ends up getting suspended for more than six games, he will have to miss additional games to make up the difference.
Sources: Eagles’ Jalen Hurts, out indefinitely with blood clot, not planned for IR | ESPN
Hurts and the Eagles are still gathering more information and seeking additional medical opinions, with the quarterback’s health the foremost consideration. They believe the blood clot is treatable, with Hurts trying to determine the best course, sources said. The ultimate decision about when Hurts returns to play will come from his medical team, and the Eagles are ready to follow his lead. There is still a chance Hurts eventually ends up on injured reserve, if that is the direction the medical information leads them.
In most cases, blood clots are treated with anticoagulants, otherwise known as blood thinners. A player cannot play while on blood thinners.

Mansoor Delane and Nohl Williams tandem a ‘pleasant surprise’ for Chiefs
Delane was limited in training camp due to a shoulder injury that he then aggravated in Week 1. Spagnuolo believes the rookie has the ailment out of his mind, as shown by his willingness to come up in run support.
“I think, instinctively, he wants to,” Spagnuolo observed. “He was a physical guy at LSU. We harp on that here. We guilt those guys into being physical because when they’re not, we put it on tape. And I just think that’s him, he plays that way. Whatever the shoulder and everything, I think he’s kind of put it out of his mind, which is a good thing. You want to play like that.”
