Rutgers basketball has made another addition to its roster as it has landed Coastal Carolina Guard/Forward Rasheed Jones in the transfer portal, according to Sam Keyser of LeagueRDY.
Jones, who stands at 6-foot-6, 190 pounds, played his last two seasons of college ball for the Chaunticleer’s, starting 61 out of 64 games for them, before making the jump up to the Big Ten. Last season, Jones averaged 14.8 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, 2.9 assists per game, and 1.0 steals per game. He also
shot 39.8 percent from the field, 80.7 percent from the line, and 36.7 percent from three last season as well. He averaged 36.3 minutes per game in 32 starts as a junior.
His best performances last season came later on in the year, including a 29-point performance against Marshall, and 26 points in 50 minutes in a triple-overtime victory over UMass.
He comes to Rutgers with one year of eligibility remaining.
Jones’ college career started at Western Carolina in 2022-2023 before joining Northwest Florida State College in 2023-2024. During his time there, he played in 34 games, averaging 11.8 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game. He shot 45.3 percent from the field, 39.7 percent on his three-point attempts, and 75.3 percent on his free throws at Northwest Florida State College before transferring to Coastal Carolina after one season.
With his addition, the Knights have now landed six new players in this year’s transfer portal.
