The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off a dominant Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns and now turn their attention to a desperate Denver team looking to bounce back from a disappointing season opener. Jacksonville will look to carry that momentum into a tough road environment, but the week’s biggest injury story has nothing to do with practice designations. It’s a roster hole up front.
Jaguars Injury Report
- DE B.J. Green II – Elbow – IR
- WR Brian Thomas Jr. – Shoulder – Limited
- WR Jakobi Meyers – Thumb – Limited
- RB LeQuint Allen Jr. – Hip – Limited
- LB Foye Oluokun – Wrist – Limited
- OT Cole Van Lanen – Knee – Limited
B.J. Green suffered his elbow injuryearly in the Week 1 win over Cleveland and has since been placed on injured
reserve, a real blow to a pass rush rotation and special teams unit that were counting on him as an impact piece this season. Jacksonville responded by signing B.J. Ojulari, but replacing that production won’t happen overnight. Beyond that, the news is mostly encouraging. Thomas re-aggravated his shoulder in Week 1 and was seen at Wednesday’s practice without a non-contact jersey despite his Limited designation, worth monitoring, but not currently viewed as a threat to his availability. Meyers (thumb), Allen Jr. (hip), Oluokun (wrist), and Van Lanen (knee) all carried Limited tags as well, but all four are expected to suit up Sunday.
Broncos Injury Report
Denver enters the week with its own concerns, holding both Harvey and Mims out of Wednesday’s practice entirely. Harvey’s hamstring issue and Mims’ foot injury give Jacksonville’s defense two names worth tracking as the week progresses, and their availability will be worth monitoring as more practice reports come in.
Despite the big loss to Green, the Jaguars are in otherwise great shape as far as roster health is concerned heading into Week 2, with the rest of the group trending toward full availability for Sunday’s matchup in Denver.
